Donald Pleasance – Actor, War Veteran, and… Public Service Announcer?

My partner knows I like actor Donald Pleasance. And I’m especially partial to those brave folks who sacrifice for their nation in times of war. So yesterday I learned how Mr. Pleasance altered his stance as conscientious objector in 1940 after attacks upon London. Also a huge horror fan, I then got to watch this 1970’s era public service announcement.

It is almost poetic while being creepy at the same time. I love it!

Do you sometimes wonder how you survived childhood or were you one of the cautious ones?

  1. Wow, that is so creepy! I was probably one of the more cautious ones. I usually had my nose in a book and stayed out of danger.

  2. I have to laugh when I see those things on FB about surviving childhood without helmets for riding bikes, drinking water from the hose, etc. I have to say, I wonder how I made it through the 70's!! Horror movies, I don't do those! I have lived alone for so long that I would not be able to sleep if I watched those things! haha....Dakota would be NO HELP whats so ever. I did watch the video....creepy! But I will also say that since I don't swim, I never missed around the water! I have a BIG FEAR of it.

    1. Hahahaha... I can see Dakota hiding from a scary flick. Sorry you're afraid of water. ~hugs~ My mother was, but bless her heart got me swim lessons that are invaluable to this day. Swimming is a favorite form of cardio exercise.

    1. Mom's can be that way. ~grin~ Knowing the things I did as a kid, I would have locked my daughter in a tall tower. Just as well I didn't have kids!

  5. Donald Pleasance was such an amazing actor. I remember loving him as Mr. Deranian in 'Escape to Witch Mountain'. Plus he was my second favorite Blofeld in 'You Only Live Twice'.

To answer your question, I was a show off, I broke my leg, and became more cautious. (wry grin)
