A Garden Variety Bug

Well, my jumping spider escaped somehow. I’m okay with that. I continue seeing a variety of such species inside and out. At bottom you can watch an adorable video of Rose the jumping spider. Thank you so much, Strayer, for sharing the Instagram link.

Meanwhile, I started feeling a bit crappy the other day. My husband suggested I test for the Wuhan flu. The results were negative so we went to the Farmers’ Market yesterday as planned. Luckily, I enjoyed myself with no sneezing fits or dripping nose. My throat is not sore, nor do I have a headache. I even slept well last night. I call that a quadruple win!

Sitting around the house, I just keep tissues handy and sometimes stuffed in my nostrils. It’s not a good look but my husband understands. The most uncomfortable state occurs with the occasional blocked ears or throbbing sinuses. I’ll take that over throat pain any day.

Have you ever contracted mononucleosis? Did you know it’s sometimes called the kissing disease and the culprit is usually the Epstein-Barr virus?

  3. That was a cute video.. I want one now. Sorry you are not feeling well. Hope you get well soon. Maybe it is allergies- there is a lot of pollen right now. XO

    1. Thank you for the well wishes. I'm happy that it seems like something other than allergies since this will end sooner. lol

  4. I hope you get better soon. Lots of things going around here, maybe brought from the sky in the herds of raindrops cascading down and who knows where those water droplets have been
    lol

  6. I certainly hope that you are free of the virus whichever it is, quickly. I have a family member who had mononucleosis. Laid him low.

    1. Thanks! I'm improving every day and the mild symptoms just began on Thursday. And mono is nasty. ~shudder~ It gave me the worst sore throat of my life.

  8. Sorry to hear Octavia has hopped it. She doesn't know which side her bread is buttered. She could have had a happy life with you - food on demand and no predators. Still, I don't think spiders are known for their brain power! My old woman and I say GET WELL SOON. xxx

  9. Did a lot of kissing in my teen years and NEVER got Mono. Oh yum, I liked kissing. lol.....anyway, I did not know that about the Epstein-Barr virus. Interesting. Yep, not a fan of a sore throat myself. But then again a stuffy nose, stuffy ears, water nose, runny eyes.....I don't care for any of that either. Your spider did not want to be contained, it wanted to be hopping around. Maybe in your bed when you are not expecting it!! Speaking runny nose there is something outside in bloom right now that had my nose running like mad this afternoon.

    1. I hope you feel better soon. ~hugs~ Allergic reactions are one more hurdle you don't deserve. And thanks for the fun imagery of a spider jumping up and down on my bed. lol

  10. Hoping you are feeling a lot better. As for my spider, I could have caught it for you, babies and all and sent it to you. Course not sure how well that would work. I checked, it was gone this morn. I am so glad. I have see big ole wolf spiders before but this is my first to see the mama with the babies......I FREAKED OUT for sure cause I almost stepped on it. HOLY CRAP, all those babes crawling on me.....NO!
