This morning I warned SO over
canning so many dill pickles. So far he has surpassed fifty pint jars. “Just
don’t become dill-usional,” I said.
After a good laugh he walked out of the kitchen, muttering, “Sh*& my wife
says,” his standard response to my most outrageous one-liners and/or worst
puns.
Meanwhile, we went to the
cucumber patch this morning and picked another four pounds. This one I
photographed below has alarmed me. Are the plants now producing twins? The last
thing we need are eight pounds a day. Or maybe this one was just happy to see
us.
Do you like dill pickles?
I love dill pickles. They are my favorite pickle. You do have a lot though and it's going to take some planning to get through those in a year. Like give many away.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day and week, Darla. Big hug. ♥
He's been reaching out to all sorts of friends and neighbors. ~grin~ Thank you for the kind words. Hugs to you, too.
DeleteYou'll have dill pickles for years. Or, you'll be giving them away to everyone you know. And no, I'm not a pickle fan.
ReplyDeleteBummer. We could have shipped you some. ~grin~ Be well!
Delete50 jars so far! Wow! At least you have Christmas presents all planned out already.
ReplyDeleteI like only dill pickles, but they have to be crispy, so the ones sold in the cold section of the grocery. My grandmother used to can bread and butter pickles, but I can't stand sweet pickles! It's why I don't like most recipes for tuna salad and potato salad, they have sweet pickles.
Hope you have a great week. We're still trapped indoors by the unhealthy air quality. But, we are grateful it's just the smoke and not the fires.
Hahahaha... Christmas gift pickles is too funny. I do like sweet pickles. ~grin~ In fact, he did two batches of them for me and the neighbors. Stay safe! Hugs, my dear.
DeleteYes, it was happy to see you :) We get carrots like that sometimes. That is a lot of pickles!
ReplyDeleteCarrots? Cool. We have zero success with those so far. Be well!
DeleteYes I love Dills and hopeful to get some can this year.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
I hope you do. I'm not a huge fan but am making a point of eating one or two spears every day. ~grin~ He does have a great technique down, so they're nice and crispy with a tiny bit of spice.
Delete"Dill-usional" - I like that! Many, many years ago a Polish friend introduced me to dill pickles and garlic sausage, a combination I have loved ever since.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Sounds like a yummy meal. Be well!
DeleteThat cuke is terrifying and possibly cukoo. Stay clear.
