Positive Sparks Monday – Back to Music

To quote Annie of McGuffy’sReader, the bright spirited blog where she created Sparks Mondays, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

I am an obsessive music geek who only toned back purchases because retirement is so worth the minor sacrifice. That said, I did order a “Rock Sound” magazine from the United Kingdom because they featured Palaye Royale. Within its pages a silly advice column stood out.

This young bloke, previously unknown to me, is the American lead singer of British pop punk band As It Is. Part of his answer to the question about making New Year’s resolutions really resonated.

I Like How the Column Adopted the Band Name - Cute
“Generally, I just aim to be nicer and work harder. I like to think that I’m already a nice, hardworking guy, but there’s always room to improve, and I think any day of the year is as good as any to invest in and love yourself.”
- Patty Walters

Thanks, Annie!

  3. That is a Spark worth both reflecting on and acting on. I can be a bit pf a pessimist and I am always working on trying to see the positive. I learn something new every day. I think that is a great concept that any day of the year is worth investing in ourself.

  4. I am an oldies music fan. I think being a teen of the 70's I love that music best of all. The station I keep my radio on plays 60s, 70s and 80s (which I am sort of lost on)....I hardly ever change that station. I was a big fan of the Osmonds! Well of course! I really did not do the Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper...etc sort of music. I did the easier type of music. haha....Although....not sure I ever mentioned to you that my nephew at the age of 17 had Alice Cooper working with him as a draw to his Chase's racing. He raced with Coopers head painted on the hood of his car. Says he is a down to earth, great guy, Sunday school teacher and great golfer! They have golfed together several times.

    1. I remember watching The Osmond Show. ~grin~ Oh, I'd forgotten about your nephew. Thanks for the reminder. I have never heard a bad word about Alice Cooper. We saw him in concert years ago and had a wonderful time even though I don't listen to his music a whole lot. He just had a birthday and got all kinds of love and respect from other musicians on Instagram and whatnot.

  5. Really wise words and ones we can all live by.
I don't like punk music but my beloved does - he was a big fan of the Sex Pistols when they first began, and still likes punk even though he doesn't look the part any more.

    1. Agreed. And thank you for the chuckle. I no longer look the part and the boys I'm going to see perform next month are young enough to be my sons.
