Blogger Question & Reactions to Comments

I have to ask a simple question regarding blog comments. Whenever you leave one, does a message pop up saying it will be published upon approval? I cannot find an additional setting for that and some folks have thought remarks got lost in cyberspace whenever I'm slow to react.

As for such comments, sweet Katie Isabella asked if Jezebel is mother to Terra and Polly. She is not, and I think she hopes they're not staying. ~grin~ We adopted her from friends who found this little stray in the winter of 2004 (!), so she's quite geriatric and cantankerous toward the still rambunctious wee ones. And it's a fun note that sweet Brian called them that just like my husband started doing.

Can you explain why my embedded links no longer show in a different color? ~sigh~ * In fact, don't you hate when software companies change things for no apparent reason? What can you do?

* Update: I finally fixed my link issue by trial and error. Whew!

  1. I've been away from Blogspot so long I'd have to start over. My WordPress is so easy to use. Walks you right though each issue you need to address. I pay for it though, but it's worth it to me.

Have a fabulous day and week. Scritches to all the kitties. Hugs. ♥

  2. well, I'm disappointed faintly. Jezabel would have been a perfect name for their mamma...as she had two callers of equal persuasion call upon her...hence Polly and Terra.

  3. I can't tell you if a message pops up. I think it does. But I won't know until I hit "Publish". (So many blogs. Some have the approval message and some don't.)

You can change the color of the links. I believe it's in "Theme". When you mess around with the font and color, I believe you can modify the link colors. There's one color for a new link and it changes if you've clicked on it. The links appear blue to me now. I suppose they turn black if you've visited the sites.

    1. Thanks for the assist. It was really luck I found the right combination. I had to go into Theme, Customize (center screen), slide down, and click on Advanced. From there I had to click on the down arrow next to Page, choose Links, slide down to Visited Color and switch to Transparent. Good grief. Be well, my dear.

  4. Yes, we get the notice that comments will be published upon approval. Tech is so challenging sometimes, especially when someone else decides to do the new and improved thing!

  6. Wee Little Bitty ones....Right now my Wee Little Bitty one is sucking on a soft throw and kneading it. Sweet angle babe. I loved the remark about Jezebel hoping that the babes are not staying. I am thinking Lily has finally given up on that thought. Today I can't tell you how many times Misty chased Lily and then I would look up and down the hall comes Lily chasing Misty. I love it. You asked if we hated when software companies change things for no apparent reason? Yes...but i have to say I sort hate it when anyone changes things period for no reason. I actually said that to a woman in Kroger the other day. They are tearing things up, moving crap and redoing things. I was looking for something and she looked lost, looking for something...I said to her, "I just hate when stores get bored with things the way they are working and decide to change things!"....She laughted and agreed with me. Anyway, now that I have high jacked your comment session and went here, there and all over the place, I will leave you!! lol

  7. Things change...for years all hyperlinks had to be blue and underlined. The newbies don't believe that so we are seeing the links change. WordPress or Blogger, they both have pros and cons. Marv's first blog (the one I lost access too when I had email issues last summer) and at that time, blogger had more pros than Wordpress did, so I went with Blogger. How you set up your comments is found under settings. I have not had any issues with spam so I have mine set to the following:
    Comment location - Embedded
Who can comment - Anyone (including anon)
    Comment moderation - Sometimes
For Posts over - 7 days
Email moderation request to - our email address
Reader Comment Captcha - Off (I hate Captcha)
Comment form message - Our message in the comment box
Hope that helps with the commenting...if not email me and I'll try to answer your questions better.
    Ciao Barb

    1. I'm not a fan of Captcha either, though I can understand folks liking it. Thanks for sharing your settings. :) It's kind of you to take the time.

  9. I have trouble upon trouble with the new blogger. Then suddenly the issue resolves. They change things on the fly, it seems. All in all, it works ok for me now. Yes I see a message stating my comment will appear after approval, since you asked.
