Amusingly Misdirected

I recently drove my husband to a small, independently owned pub we always mean to revisit. Needless to say, it had been a while since our last visit. After placing our order, I went to wash my hands and found this awesome sign.

Of course I entered the “wrong room”. But our bartender later informed me that it didn’t matter. The proprietors decided to make both facilities unisex because the compact ladies’ room made wheelchair access extremely difficult.

And sure enough, washing my sticky hands before heading home, inside the smaller space I found a very different sign. This one advised men that the toilet was shorter than it appeared and to please stand close to the basin.

Isn’t the inexpensive solution clever? Why did I fail to understand the facilities were unisex?

  1. The third figure along is interesting. I can guess what it means. But with unisex, it doesn't matter.

    1. Yes! :D And I think most folks around here simply respect others' privacy.

  3. So many places have unisex restrooms now, and it's great to NOT have to wait in the queue for the ladies.

  4. That definitely makes things easier. They did this at the schools I work at. Easier than having to wait in a line at snack.

  5. This sign gave dad a chuckle. One of his favorites, though he hasn't seen one lately, is the likely-all-too-common "We aim to please, so you aim, too, please" sign he's seen in many restrooms. Yesterday, mom and dad stopped for a brew across the river at Odd Bird Brewing in Stockton, NJ, where there is only one unisex bathroom. Dad had to go, but there was a line about 8-deep, so he just held it for the 15-minute drive home. Dad's not much of a dancer, but by the time they got in the door, he was doing some pretty fancy moves is all I'll say.

  7. Darla, that comment on Katie's blog of "Block Party" got me laughing hard enough and loud enough to wake her up! Guess what??? She gained a POUND in one month! The B12 shot absolutely did it. It had e in tears when the Vet weighed her last month...but today..woo whee!

  8. I hate public BRs anyway, but to share with other sexes bothers me more. Men tend to not hit what they aim for, hence the reason that when I was teaching Cory, I put an cheerio in the pot and told him to aim for that. But then again, I have been in BRs where its just women using it, and that can get right nasty also. lol....A nice little cozy pub AKA bar is nice to have to go to.
