At least this lesson sunk in because I purchased some cool tempered glass shelves that hang from wire like a construction crane. Installation seemed simple enough. My husband, bless his heart, suggested hiring a professional. After breaking two ceramic pieces in an attempt to display them, I concede. Thank heaven they aren’t treasured heirlooms. But still…

Those pieces (not shown) will never be the same despite a Super Glue repair job. Hurray for not attaching them to my hands. I remember going to high school classes with a bit of felt glued to my fingertip. ~rolls eyes~ Why I didn’t just use Elmer’s to reattach its eye is beyond me but I do still have that little stuffed pumpkin character.

Never been glued to a project , but I burn myself every single time I use a glue gun. :)

DeleteWell you know, Darla, dad occasionally has the same issue with nails, but overall mom and I are grateful that he's in the maintenance industry. Before we moved down south from Massachusetts he even had his own handyman business and did this kind of thing day in and day out. He'd often come home to mom at the end of the day and tell her stories of the kinds of things people would pay him to do, things like this exactly. Mom says she's ever grateful that dad can cook and bake, clean, correct spelling and grammar AND fix things (when he finally gets around to it, that is). She says she'll keep him around. Of course, he wrote all this...

DeleteI can't do ANYTHING of that genre right. AND I get mad at the project within a few minutes! I just give in and cast about trying to find someone who can and will do it for a fee.

ReplyDeleteAt my age, practice seems fruitless. Heh... But hiring our contractor is my husband's way of keeping a talented guy in business.
DeleteI am totally SHAKING my head over this post!! haha....Why? You have seen what I do with tools!! haha....Hire someone to hang a shelve? NEVER!!! Maybe next time if items are not heavy, use those sticky hooks that hold things in place and you can remove them!!! haha...I am laughing with you my dear! Do you have other things on your walls? How did they get there?
