Bittersweet

Well, it’s official. Styx had a home. He was neutered as well as socially adjusted. I just came back from the veterinary office with an empty carrier.

You Can Just See the Gratitude, Can't You?
As it turned out, he had a microchip, which I had to remind the vet tech to scan for. She said it’s rare for cats to have them, though all our girls have received them.

Anyway, his family is ecstatic. His human called to thank me. She said he snuck out a week ago!

I’m thrilled for them. Now that I have a baby gate ordered to segregate my cats during introductions, it might be time to start visiting shelters and let SO pick out an older feline maybe or perhaps a pair of younger siblings.

What a great ending, no?

  1. I'm happy for the mom who found her baby, but I'm sad for you as you already fell in love with him.

    Have a fabulous day. ♥

  2. Sorry for you, I know you liked him a lot. So glad he got home though. My two indoor only cats are chipped. No collars, I don't trust the break-away ones.
Maybe if "Styx" were neutered he wouldn't want to get out and lost!
Did they put a lost posting on Craigslist? Or put up flyers? Or go door to door? Doesn't sound like it! He'll come visit next time he escapes!

    1. Thank you. As it turned out, he'd been neutered. They might have posted flyers and I just didn't see them. SO said he might show up but I think this boy has too bad a sense of direction!

  3. I'm so glad you got him back to his familiy. And yeah, this was a great trial run for introducing a new cat to your family.

  4. That was kind of you to help him. I hope you do adopt one now though.

  5. That is bittersweet :-( While I'm so happy that you were able to find his family, I know how heart wrenching it must have been.

    1. Thank you. I've told my husband he needs to pick out a cat, now, since he's joked for so long about wanting to do it. ~grin~ Of course, we would go together. Don't know when it will happen, though. Maybe he's not as ready as I thought.

    1. You're so kind. Considering all you do, my part in this was tiny, but I'm very happy for the family. Love you, too, my dear!

    1. I feel the same way on both counts. Not sure about hubby, though. Maybe he's still afraid of upsetting our old kitties.
