Black Cat Appreciation Day

I learned the significance of this date thanks to Eastside Cats. For those who don’t know, on August 7th the family lost beloved kitty Paddy O’Malley far too soon. I know their hearts still ache, so bless your humans, sweet PO’M, for resuming the heartwarming blog so soon.

Now that two “holes in space” own us now, heart to hearth, here is another portrait of the pair. The Dactyl sisters and their extra toes certainly keep me on mine.

Want toy meow!

Jezebel is doubtless not impressed. Don’t tell her, though, but we’re sure she has benefited from the activity. A long ongoing and increasingly frequent leg tremor is now all but nonexistent. It’s as if losing her complacency has somehow rewired Jezebel’s brain.

Whatever...

Shouldn’t every day of the calendar year celebrate a certain wild creature or family pet? Don’t you think animals offer more to celebrate than things like ice cream and hoagies?

  1. Aww, thank you for thinking of our Angel PO'M...it's still too surreal!

  2. Yes, animals are wonderful critters to celebrate. I love kitties and I love puppies. Bunnies, birds and many other cutie pies.

Have a fabulous day, Darla. Big hug. ♥

  3. I definitely think family pets should be appreciated every day. I am glad Jezebel's tremor went away. XO

  4. We love black kitties even though there are none living inside with us. We do have 6 black kitties in our feral family and they got a special meal today in better the rain bands from Tropical Depression Fred.

  6. It's amazing how many days have something of note nowadays. There's an English teacher who keeps them up on her board for her students, and she manages to have at least one up (and a new one) every day.

  7. Jezebel, IT is a joy to our moms when we get up and dance, play and zoom. Many more active times to you. XXX

  8. Aww, thanks for this; The PO'M was an amazing cat.
Now, we have Sweetie, Manny, and Chili Bruce, and they are housepanthers...I'd fill the house with them, if The Hubby wasn't always putting the breaks on my ideas...*grumble*

  10. I think that my furs should be celebrated each and every day. I know what you mean about Jezebel....I know that Lily brought Dakota out of that grumpy old man stage he got in when I retired and he stopped going to moms for day care everyday. Lily brought him the best three yrs of his life. Animals are amazing.

  11. Yes, every day of the calendar year should, as a matter of fact, celebrate a certain wild creature... named ME! (just my two cents)
