Snow in March isn’t unheard of in Ohio but recent spring-like weather led to my surprise upon waking. Hence, a nice bowl of warm cereal sounded perfect. I haven’t eaten it in years and decided to kick this up a notch.
I started with diced Gala apple and raisins. Adding a splash more milk, I felt it needed a little more sweetness. Then I remembered my ginger snap cookies.
They’re small and I used less butter baking them, so don’t judge. ~grin~ And what a delicious twist! My husband followed my suggestion.
Have you experienced fresh ginger root? Are you a fan of hot cereal?

No judgement. Eat what you like. It sounds like it was a nice addition to your breakfast.

DeleteI had oatmeal with apples for breakfast too! Though I didn't have any ginger snaps. I'm next door in West Virginia and was also unpleasantly surprised by the change in weather to something more usual than the sunshine we'd been enjoying.
ReplyDeleteWV is a lovely state. :) Be well, my dear.
DeleteStrange March weather after such a snow free winter here in lower Michigan.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for a nice spring.
DeleteSlow-cooked oats with a sliced banana and a dollop of raw almond butter is our daily staple.
ReplyDeleteI've been pining for oat groats, but The Hubby isn't as keen on them as I, and he's the cook.
Awww... I hope you can entice him to cook what you crave.
DeleteThat sounds so delicious. Especially with the added ginger snaps! And you have snow! I'm jealous.

DeleteOatmeal is a staple in our house, and it's the breakfast of choice most weekdays. I typically have sliced bananas, raisins & sunflower seeds, with a sprinkle of wheat germ and a hearty pour of real maple syrup to sweeten. No snow to speak of here, though the temps surely are dipping these coming days! Be well, Darla.
ReplyDeleteYou be well, too. My heart still hurts over your loss of Cleo.
Deletewhen you say HOT cereal, are you talking cream of wheat or oatmeal? I love oatmeal, however, unlike you, I am not making it and adding to it. I by the stuff that is prob not good for you. The ingredients are added. I like apple and cinnamon flavor or maple and brown sugar. If you are talking cream of wheat....never ate it. It is not a Southern thing! lol....I use fresh ginger root in a tea. It is suppose to be good for you! And with that, I guess in my warped mind, the ginger washes out the bad of the premixed oatmeal! lol
ReplyDeleteI used to enjoy Cream of Whea:t and rediscovered Coco Wheats a while back. There is no real nutrition in it, though. ~sigh~ And that reminds me, it's after 9:30 and I never ate anything today. lol
