Enchanting Abandoned Witch House Of A Famous Artist - What Happened Here?
Since this video is long, I watched it at a higher rate of speed. Old, abandoned structures fascinate me and I felt my time well spent.

A Curious Sight
I parked near a thought provoking vehicle at the YMCA Monday. The front windshield sported a commercial sun shield. The others, well, see for yourself.
Weird vibes almost caused me to move my car. Common sense prevailing, I stayed put. The rusted sedan remained there after I finished my workout.
Do you have any theory about this? Since all the windows remained down a few inches on a cloudy day could the car have both electrical and water leakage issues its owner cannot afford to fix?

Birds of a Feather Stick Together
On my way out of town this morning I drove a twisting narrow lane and saw some beautiful chickens. I pulled over to take a photo and video. Drivers coming the other way must have thought me nuts.
There is something my husband and I find soothing in chicken behavior. Roanoke Island, North Carolina here in the United States boasts a fabulous historic farm with heritage breed chickens. The birds run and hide whenever school children arrive but race to us expecting handouts.
Before spotting the chickens I saw a less pleasant sight. You might want to skip the rest of this if hulking black vultures would creep you out.
Unfortunately, this image does not do them justice... |

Taking the following video gave me chills. I would not want these creatures at my garbage cans. Unlike their larger red-headed relatives, these normally solitary scavengers have been known to attack livestock and wildlife. Both black and (red-headed) turkey vultures are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, so any human caught interfering can expect a huge fine. I’ll warn pet owning neighbors, for sure.
Did you know that black vultures sometimes go after vinyl and rubber, damaging commercial and residential properties? Can you believe fines can reach $100,000 on individuals and twice that for organizations?

In retrospect, I guess they look like black chickens... lol |

Responses & A Big ‘Huh?’
I appreciate the kind words regarding my handling a centipede. I’m not certain that will ever reoccur. Heh… Meanwhile, Andrew kindly expressed concern for my garden. I am pleased to report that these carnivorous creatures eat many harmful insect species (including those that can transfer dangerous bacteria). And I often use the trick Liz A. described, covering spiders with a glass and sliding a stiff envelope between it and the floor or wall. It’s much easier than what dear Strayer endures trapping to help feral cats. Believe it or not, though, I actually let this little bug free inside.
On a very different and befuddling topic, my husband’s primary care physician is taking much deserved retirement this summer. It had been over thirty years (!), starting just after my husband’s honorable discharge from the United States Air Force and continuing when Dr. T. moved to a teaching clinic. When our health insurance provider forced me to switch yet again in 2019, one of Dr. T.’s residents actually took on my care.
He has since joined a practice much closer to our home. Having him take on my husband’s care seemed ideal, and both physicians agreed. Dr. T. went so far as to say this was a good choice.
However, things didn’t turn out as planned.
This health network, we were told, no longer accepts new patients insured by Molina Healthcare. Huh? I’m very glad my established patient status exempts me from exclusion yet upset for my husband’s sake. Both clinics are under the Kettering Health Network umbrella. So what’s the difference between which one he chooses?
Have you heard of a patient denied care for having the wrong insurance? Should I worry this is a warning sign Molina Healthcare was a bad choice?

Regarding Jezebel, I want to thank sweet Cleo and our lovely Eastside Cat friends for their research. To ease your concerns, I am happy to report her vet check-up last month was great, her head pressing activity is both gentle and rare, and she actually gained lost weight running around. Terra and Polly keep her on her toes. ~grin~
Back to silly stuff, those squeamish about bugs will want to skip this final note about centipedes.

Back in her feline youth, dear old Jezebel would sometimes catch centipedes in her mouth, tossing them in the air and actually disarticulating the unfortunates. It was quite a sight, and also disgusting as removed legs kept twitching. ~shudder~ So far, Terra and Polly stick to chasing ladybugs.

An Eerie Revelation
Sorting through a box of things my father sent, I discovered a photo of my beloved maternal grandparents. A close inspection shocked me. Purchased off eBay probably fifteen years ago, my vintage eyeglass frames could have been the very ones Grandma wore during my childhood.
I just wanted something different and thought this design looked interesting.
She must have felt the same. I cannot tell if she wore bifocal lenses or trifocals.
Isn’t that wild? Has this sort of thing happened to you?

These came with trifocals. |
Though you may not see it in her portrait, the contrasting finishes look identical. |

More Party Pics
I did not take as many pictures as planned. Most of these are off of Facebook thanks to other attendees.
Looks like a cyclist is on this spider's dinner menu... Yum! |
More decor along the detached garage... |
Last but far from least, here is sweet Tux. His frame felt frail but he doesn't act it. - |

Following a Theme... (WARNING: Fake but Graphic Gore Ahead)
During a recent meal out my drink came chilled by a very cool looking solid ice sphere. It made me wonder if someone made skull shaped ice trays.
And they do! My husband found several silicon models and purchased the one rated highest on Amazon, which only cost a few dollars. My fun experimenting with ever creepier additives has been priceless.
~grin~
If you don’t want to risk getting grossed out you should skip the photo at bottom. Hint: adding a dollop of tart cherry jam proved to be my best idea yet.
Have you ever seen a novelty ice cube? If you were to buy such an ice tray, what shape would you choose?

Here is a bonus fact for those horror fans who hung in there:
Adding cooked rice fragments grossed me out. Tinted green with a dot of wasabi, those ‘maggots’ looked way too real as the ice melted. And the feel of them... Ugh!
