R is for Rollins Band

Front man Henry Rollins is perhaps better known for his television and movie appearances than his music. I appreciate his take on both, though I only have two Rollins Band songs thanks to still more movie soundtracks (1994's "The Crow" is a particularly favorite film with awesome music all around). If you get the chance, I advise seeing his live talk shows. The man is a notable writer and speaker.

Today, as well, please enjoy the musical stylings of my mock band Robot Monkeys. Finger Eleven inspired this by their original name, The Rainbow Butt Monkeys. That still cracks up the juvenile boy in me. And Finger Eleven is a fun live act. But there I go, cheating again. I didn’t mean to do a double post.

  1. I looked Rollins up on the internet. What a fascinating character but quite a troubled life.
As for Robot Monkeys, I can't imagine what kind of music they would play!

    1. I agree about Mr. Rollins. On a side note, he did a fine job hosting a show about American history called "Ten Things You Didn't Know About...", which is fun and informative. Thank you for the fun reads on Around My Kitchen Table and That's Purrfect. I highly recommend both your blogs, my dear.

    2. You're so kind. Love your blog too! I see you have other blogs, which I haven't looked at yet. Having 2 in the A to Z has been quite time-consuming and I'm trying to get round to lots of different people as well as my favourites. When it's not quite so hectic I am going to come back and have a good read of EVERYTHING! xx

    1. Holy crow! I didn't even know he was on that show. And I should have been watching for Marilyn Manson, anyway. Thank you for the kind words. And the information! Be well, my dear.

  3. Thank you for the tip on Henry Rollins. To be very honest with you, I'd never heard of him. I have received so many tips from you that I've written down. You're bringing me up-to-date.

    1. You've really brightened my day, Pat. I've made a few notes of artists to check out, too. ~grin~ One can never have too much music, though this afternoon I'm letting mother nature be my soundtrack as I type. Oh, but earlier I enjoyed a CD of music from Madagascar. I had to buy it on eBay. Namaste, my dear.

  4. Robot Monkeys is a great name. And I do believe I've heard Henry Rollins music. But not live. I don't do live shows.

    1. There is nothing wrong with not caring for live music. I have slowed down in attendance. Kids are too darn tall these days and nobody will sit even if seats are provided! Still, I have my memories from around 2007. I set a goal to see one live show every month and did it! Good times, especially when I convinced my partner to attend. Best wishes!

    1. Ha! Clever lady. And that reminds me of a video by Australian group The Avalanches. For "Frontier Psychiatry" they have an eclectic bunch of entertainers onstage including a guy in a cheesy monkey suit. ~grin~ Be well!

  6. Robot Monkeys...for some reason, this makes me think of the Daleks from 'Doctor Who', singing 'Hyper-Link' and 'Dub in the Sky' to a boy, who looks a lot like the Tenth Doctor. I don't know why. :)

    1. How cool! Thank you for the friendly visit. And I am really enjoying your tiny house tour! I am a fan of the whole tiny house movement. I don't think my two cats would approve, though. ~grin~ I look forward to your vegetarian recipe for two. It's difficult cooking for one or two people! Best wishes, my dear.
