K is for Korn

The R should be backward and upper case for Korn, actually. In fact Bakersfield, California where the band formed installed a street sign in their honor with it spelled just that way. I find that hometown support adorable considering their heavy music and twisted lyrics. It's good stuff. This is another band that gets my blood pumping still faster while lifting weights.

For my phony band I chose the name Kiss of Death. I’m not sure I really care for it now, days after the invention. But that’s okay. Maybe I wouldn’t like their music. Let’s say their name is tough but the music sounds mainstream enough for prime time. If you like pop music, more power to you. I’ll just be in the corner with my Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson albums book ending Korn. I promise to wear headphones.

  1. Pop music does't do it for me! I'm with you on rock and if I'm not listening to that, I sink myself into my favourite classical pieces.

    1. Oh, that sounds lovely, Keith. I have a decent selection of classical after winning a silent auction. I'm so thankful for the many works I garnered.

  2. The nicest thing that can happen to any musician is to have his music loved by his or her hometown. The hometown support inspires any musician to greatness.
Love the way I'm learning about this genre of music. You're doing a good job of presenting it.

  3. Kiss of Death is an RWA online chapter of romantic suspense/mystery writer I'm a member of. :) We call it KOD in short, and it's one of my fav writing communities. Maybe you won't like our music, but I bet you might find a book or two to enjoy :P

Also, please don't sneer at pop music. It's fun, and upbeat, and has it's optimistic benefit :)

    1. Well said, Grace. I think all music has its merits, for sure. And I really don't mean to denigrate the genre. It just doesn't get my groove on. :) I'm so proud that you're a member of RWA, and the group name is really fun. Happy writing!

  4. That is so very cool that Bakersfield did that.
Kiss of Death... hmmm I guess outwardly stating you like pop music is like a kiss of death, so perhaps the name is fitting.

    1. Well said. I think what turns me off is some of what sounds overly processed to me. And granted, that goes for some alternative artists as well. Thank you for stopping by!

  7. I just watched youtube Korn Falling Away from Me. That's kind of sick and twisted, liked it though. Ha! Who'd have thought.

  8. Actually, I love the name Kiss of Death. It conjures up images of bands like Cruxshadows, Carfax Abbey, and Diary of Dreams. (which were all bands which put out more than one song I truly loved)
