The Importance of Mindset

Some friends have tried convincing me that speaking affirmations help guarantee success. I’ve always preferred action such as the saying, Fake it Till You Make it. A unique source may change my mind.

This morning I drove my husband to our concurrent dental appointments. To our happy surprise both checkups went extremely well. Before leaving, the pleased dentist said, “2024 is going to be the year for you.”

Her Asian heritage could lead to a joke about fortune cookies. However, she and her awesome staff gave off such fantastic vibes I plan to recite Dr. Bui’s well wishes daily.

Do you have an opinion about positive thinking? What is your greatest upcoming wish?

  3. I have an Asian friend living in BC and she consults all sorts of indicators and is often right on the money, so listen to your dentist I say and this is your year! Also, side by side dental checkups for you and hubby, that's given me a vision and I like it. Could be the new thing.

  4. Well, this is the year of the dragon...

Affirmations are great, but you have to be careful. They need to be phrased in the positive. (Think: I'll be good; Rather than: I won't be bad.) And they don't replace action.

  5. I think it helps to have a positive attitude but I am not sure that it changes much. How many 'bravely' fight against cancer and lose the battle. Maybe it is better to be accepting of medical treatment and accept what fate deals out.

    1. Oh, we definitely need to back up positivity with action. My husband is walking proof. And I'm still so happy that you're cancer free.

  6. Well, my dad says he wishes he thought more positively in general, but he agrees that positive thinking is healthier.

  8. I get up knowing that what comes to me was meant to be. I have no say in the matter. But I accept and make the best of whatever is my portion. Your own attitude is key. OH! OH! Katie Isabella said her monocle grows back in very noticeably at about 4 weeks. I love seeing the baby whisker sprouting up to make the other half of the monocle and keep close watch on it.
