U is for U2

Alas, I could not find a lesser known group that WNKU airs. You are probably aware that U2 plans a tour performing their album “The Joshua Tree” in entirety. Has it really been thirty years since its release? Wow. Good music, too.

Folk artist Uncle Frank is today’s made up entertainer. He has a sound not unlike David Lindley.

All the real tunes air on member supported WNKU out of the University of Northern Kentucky. The web page features the current playlist and live streaming.

  1. I can't believe its been so long. Wasn't their first album "Boy"? They have endured. Would love to hear them in concert but the tickets are way beyond my capacity and the crowd sizes, well would probably need high powered binoculars to even see them. I think my brother has seen them in concert a couple of times. I've only been to two concerts in my life, both Jimmy Buffet, courtesy of my brother. He used to be a huge Parrot Head. I enjoyed both immensely. Both events were well over a decade ago. Closer to two now.

    1. Gosh, I wish you could have enjoyed more concert going experiences. About a decade ago I made a pact with myself to see one live act a month. It wasn't as expensive as it sounds. Some were really inexpensive, even for a day long festival. Good times, even when I attended alone (Red Hot Chili Peppers and Motley Crue come to mind). The band Hurt at a small venue is a favorite memory. Thanks for sharing your recollection, my dear.

    1. That's funny. But now I can't help thinking of an evil character in the movie "Hellraiser". ~shiver~ Thanks for visiting!

  3. I don't think I've ever heard 'Soul of a Man', but I LOVED the Hell on Wheels series.

    1. Oh, my dear. I'm with you. And if you saw every episode you definitely heard the song. It featured prominently while Cullen walked through the railroad camp upon returning with Durant. Be well!

  4. It does make me feel old to realise that things like this are 30 years old! My brother had this album, so I remember listening to it not long after it was out. Still holds up, I think.

  5. Yes, U2. Wow. I had an activist/musician friend who was absolutely obsessed. He still is, too.
