A Friday Fill-In

Reading yesterday’s post on 15 and meowing intrigued me to join in the Friday fill-ins. I hope you enjoy.

1. I am (often) overdue to feed my fish for days (!) in a row. This sounds odd but I avoid lifting the lid of my aquarium where too-clever-for-her-own-good kitty Terra can see. When she’s finally napping I tend to be otherwise occupied and forget. Thank heaven my spotfin gobies don’t seem to suffer.

2. I am so sick of all the various powerful global entities making bank on hate, fear, and misinformation. I’ve heard that the media assigns us our opinions if we let it. We need to take it upon ourselves to do our own research on whatever we find troubling and have patient, respectful dialogues. Or I could just take my unicorn out for a ride. ~hangs head~ Most folks of every ilk just want to live in peace.

3. Tinned anchovies on bread is a strange snack I like to eat. Snacking is rare for me anyway, but I tend to opt for savory over sweet.

4. A bento box is one of the most random things I own. The compartments are great for more than just sushi. Its first use was when my husband and I enjoyed strawberries dipped in plain yogurt off the shared tray.

Not exactly the one I bought, but close...
What say you on these topics?

  1. Goldfish were the first pets that my father allowed in the house; with six kids, they didn't need anymore mouths to feed. I loved those two, but for the life of me, I cannot remember their names...

    1. Your parents seem like wise folks. :) With all the love and joy you provide your own family, please don't feel bad for forgetting the names of your goldfish. ~nods~ Be well!

  2. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I was thrilled to see you joined in. Better to feed them less than more, I think that is why any fish I ever had didn't last long because I overfed. I had never heard of a Bento box, but I like the idea of strawberries to dip in it. I will pass on the sardines though. :) And I totally agree about the media. XO

  3. Love your fill-ins and those poor fish will never be overweight. You'll see to that.

I'm with you on #2. I have a unicorn too and we could go for a ride together.

    Now I want Japanese food.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, Darla. Big hug. ♥

  4. Those were really good answers! Too bad they don't make timed feeders for fish!

    1. Ah, but they do. Heh... Are you messing with me or did you not know? I used them on vacations past. :)

  5. As long as the fish don't starve, it's probably okay. I have no idea how often fish should be fed. I always get nervous in classrooms where there is a pet of some sort. I wonder if it's been fed or if someone needs to feed it.

  6. I enjoyed your fill-ins a LOT~
Dad bought me tropical fish. We had a 10 gallon tank. I wound up being in charge of it. I collected and stored water so the chlorine would be evaporated for the fish. That was my first order of the days back then, and I was in charge of keeping the tank clean as well. I recall swordfish, Tuxedos and guppies of course. Too many years have elapsed for me to recall the others.

    1. I don't know how I did not reply to your fill-ins. Except for anchovies (I'd rather die than....) I agree wholly with you answers. I especially agree with your answer to 2. I'm afraid trolls will come and eat my feet or something if I say anything like that. You said it and I am here to agree 100%.

  7. Fun Fill-ins. Mom just says NO to anchovies other than in Caesar salad dressing!

  9. We have to learn to do things on the sly to keep the smart little ones in our life picking up on ways to do things! They are smarty pants and figure so much out. HAHA...I take my monkey riding, (things you never expect to read on your blog)....I have a stuffed monkey attacked to the back of my car. But back to that part of your post, I think we have to take what we hear, read and are told on the news and social media with a grain of salt. And with that said, how big of a grain of salt?? haha....I know a lot of times that is how we learn things but on the other hand, who is feeding us that info. I just want to live in my own world and go about life happy! You SNACK...NO. On you sushi box, I can think of a lot of uses for that but eating SUSHI..NO.

    1. I'm sure human children keep folks on their toes, too. And you should know. You've done an excellent job on your kids and theirs from what all I can tell. ~hugs~ If people would just read to the end of an article they mind find that the click bait heading is very different from the final resolution. ~sigh~ Salt is valuable, too, but not like in ancient times. Heh... Be well!

  10. I'm having posting issues. Sometimes the comments "stick" and sometimes they don't. I hope this one sticks! Mom LOVES your fill ins! And she did say something profound the first time. Mom says she LOVES anchovies, but she has not had in a long, long time. We hope you have a fabulishious week!

  11. Regarding your #2 answer- yes, I think it's time we all took our unicorns out for rides. It seems the sh*t we're being fed is inescapable.

  12. I keep my unicorn saddled up permanently now and I'm about ready to ride off into anywhere I won't find your #2 answer. Is there such a place?

    1. I like to think it's the Outer Banks of North Carolina. :) Those folks are so laid back and just get along with everyone that isn't too high strung. Heh... I miss that place.

  13. I love fish in the aquarium. I don't have; and I don't have much idea of about taking care of them.
