I
took it upon myself to read the packaging notes. One never knows what one might
glean. These companies want to sell their product and often share supposed insider
claims, recipes, and whatnot. This manufacturer advertises a consistent protein
level lacking in other brands. I wonder… maybe that’s the difference.
Then
I discovered a recipe for Tuscan style herbed bread listed on the back. Yum.
And easy, by the look.
Never
having baked loaves outside of a dedicated machine, I decided to have a go. My fresh
made bagels, after all, turned out well in past. And those require multiple
steps beyond what this demanded.
My Tuscan style loaf turned out awesome. I even divided the raw dough into three
strips and braided them (hence, ‘twisted’ baking – sorry – heh…). Warm and dipped in herbed olive oil, the slices
taste delicious as anything we’ve enjoyed dining out.
Do
you enjoy Italian seasonings? What's your favorite use for them?
Woo-hoo, the bread turned out. Looks like you might be a baker. And it looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Technique is everything, as my husband states. And he loves the taste just as I enjoy his efforts. Good times.
DeleteOh my that bread looks amazing. I love all things Italian. Favorite seasonings? That's a tough one.
ReplyDeleteHubby loves to bake. He's baking all the time and I never eat any of it. I know better.
Have a fabulous day and weekend, Darla. Big hug. ♥
You are a stronger woman than me. ~grin~ Thank you for all the kind words.
DeleteI've heard that Alton Brown is going to have a new TV show...hope it on a channel that we can get off the antenna! We loved "Good Eats".
ReplyDeleteAlas, all I see him doing these days is those cooking contest shows which don't interest me. Hope you can watch what you enjoy, regardless! Be well, my dear.
DeleteI do like Italian seasoning and that bread looks great.
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteWow! I swear I can smell the delicious aroma of freshly baked bread here across the pond in the UK! As for Italian seasonings, I use the common oregano etc, plus red pepper flakes that add a bit of zing.
ReplyDeleteRed pepper flakes are great! We grew Thai dragon peppers a few summers ago that are still good ground up in chili and the like. Yum.
DeleteDad says this reminded him of many years ago when he worked for a small bakery/deli/caterer just down the road from the Yankee Candle flagship store up in South Deerfield, MA. His all-time favorite thing to bake was a whole wheat/dill/sun dried tomato focaccia.
ReplyDeleteOh, my, that focaccia sounds delicious. :)
DeleteOh that looks so good and dipping in spiced olive oil, making me hungry.
ReplyDeleteWish I could have shared with you. :)
