Rooting around the cabinets
for something to eat, I found this onion sprouted in the dark. So much for
keeping one around, handy in case of need. Then again, I suppose we should get
a proper storage bin.
Should I stick this in the garden
and see what happens?
I say recycle it to the garden then enjoy it later.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day and weekend. Big hug. ♥
Thanks! Hugs to you, too, my dear. Be well.
DeleteMay as well plant it and see what happens! At the very least (and probably only thing, as it's already a fully grown onion) you may get some pretty flowers out of it if you leave it long enough.
ReplyDeleteI don't use many fresh onions (like the flavor, not the texture, so use onion powder for most recipes), so I keep partially used ones in the refrigerator, and they're usually sprouted by the time I get back to them. Potatoes too. The kitchen cabinets are too warm for storage. My mother kept her potatoes and onions in the garage, and they kept a long time. I have no garage!
We should keep them in the cellar. ~nods~ Thanks for sharing.
DeleteWell I would start it in a pot inside first till SPRING. Course if your spring is like ours it might be awhile. Pretty, things blooming and then POW it will be in the teens Monday. Crazy. Reply to your comment on the blog ~ I have not required help packing moms things up inside. I wanted to do that on my own. When I move to the garage and basement that will be a different story. I will require help for sure then. Sis in law said she is coming to help tomorrow but I think we will work on moms office. I think the boys can come help when I move to the garage. Thanks for caring and being concerned.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the advice and easing my mind. ~hugs~ Be well, my dear.
DeleteAt least it's not moldy. I was making a turkey loaf. Expecting that the onions were okay, I didn't get a new one at the store. Then found that it was all moldy and icky.
ReplyDeleteBummer! I hate when that happens.
DeleteI asked my hubby and he said it will blossom and go to seed then you have to plant those seeds to get onions.
ReplyDeleteThanks! That makes perfect sense.
DeleteDo it!
