Positive Sparks Mondays – Mixed Blessings

Thanks to Annie of McGuffy’s Reader, I’m posting a positive spark today. You can find her here. She’s focusing on giving thanks right now, which inspired me yet again.

I live a charmed life overflowing with blessings. Some of my favorites are those one might call ‘mixed’, minor misfortunes with a positive side. Making note of them fosters and bolsters a positive attitude. Yet it isn’t always easy. And one thing I’ve noticed is that tiny frustrations can truly undermine the soul.

So when our real estate taxes climb year after year, I try to focus on the fact that our home’s value is increasing. Maybe someday I can sell it for a shack on the beach. ~grin~ You never know.

Yesterday’s mixed blessing was the weather. I sweated bullets cutting the lawn. But then I enjoyed the back patio wearing summer clothes. In fact, it’s where I typed this.

The up side to having a nosy neighbor is knowing he’ll keep an eye on your property. And spoiled, bratty cats provide reason to laugh every day. It’s all perspective.

What would you consider a mixed blessing?

  1. Darla, you are amazing. Indeed, in every disaster, there are blessings mixed in. Everything happens for a reason. We are supposed to learn, find the blessings, pass those on, and carry on. No, it is not always easy. But, I have learned what doesn't kill me makes me stronger. That, too, is a blessing. Thank you for being a part of Sparks. HUGS.

  3. Mixed....all of them! haha....I know what you mean about the temps. Its a cool damp morning here but the last couple of days I have been running around in shorts and flip flops....subject to change at any given day! Global warming seems to really made a difference in TN for the last few yrs. I remember growing up here, Nov 6th would have been what we considered WINTER! Now....Hydranga bushes, Yucca plants and Day Lilies have been blooming. Crazy. Hoping you have an amazing weekend.

    1. Thanks! Something about the weather caused my weeping crabapple tree to not leaf out well. Nor did my roses thrive. ~sigh~ Hope next year has them looking better.

  4. If we focus on the positive then you are miles ahead of everything. Some folks tend to focus on all the negative and that's not healthy. There are so many blessings if we just pay attention.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺

  7. My mixed blessing at the moment is our adorable kitty cat who I adore but can be a bit of nag when she wants something, and usually it's when there is something good on the tv - she sits beside me meowing very loudly.
