Good Eats?

My kitchen island countertop is covered with tomatoes that need processed and frozen for summer fresh eats during wintertime. This one would be best eaten rather than trying to parboil and peel, if I can overcome its grotesque looks.

Almost a Cartoon Fist, Isn't It?
I should not waste good food. Doing so is galling to me.

Any suggestions? Maybe just chop it into salads?

  3. We get some of those too. Good idea to chop it up into a salad. Thank you for the kind words you left on my blog for the loss of Phoebe. XO

  5. At a glance, it looks fine. Chopping it open and inspecting its guts would prove most revealing though.

  6. There's someplace that does "ugly" food. Because we're so accustomed to produce that looks good, the stuff that looks less than ideal can be wasted. So there's a service that uses it somewhere. Obviously, I've forgotten the details.

    1. Unfortunately I wasted some tomatoes that didn't look quite so weird just because I didn't get to processing them soon enough. At least there weren't too many that spoiled. Thanks for the information.

  8. Maybe you can make salsa with it. Or just chop it up and use it in a taco. :)

    1. Interestingly, it tasted about the best of my entire crop, just chunked on a plate with a sprinkle of salt. Took several sittings to eat. ~grin~ Thanks for stopping by!
