I just learned the movie “Spaceballs”
came out three decades ago. That doesn’t seem possible. I missed seeing it
until well after the theatrical release and wish some local cinema would screen
it today.
In lieu of that I may have to
pop in the DVD tonight. The only Mel Brooks movie I like better would have to
be “Young Frankenstein” for the horror theme and incredible cast.
But it doesn’t feature John
Candy. I still miss him. What a mensch
with an incredible gift for making audiences smile and laugh.
Do you have a favorite John Candy role? If you're not a fan, please don't tell me. ~grin~ Just say you can't pick a favorite .
It is a tie between Uncle Buck and his small part in Home Alone :)
ReplyDeleteNice choices! Be well, my dear.
DeleteI never really *got* Spaceballs. I didn't find it funny. I was probably dragged to it kicking and screaming, too. (Other movies I was dragged to: Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark...)
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Honestly, I guess most of my movie tastes align more with males.
Delete30 yrs? Wow....that is just unreal. I am like you, where did all the time go...and so FAST. I remember when the last Star Wars came out, I had to take my grandson to see it since I saw the very first one when it came out at the drive in 1977 when I was 17, 40 yrs ago.
ReplyDeleteHow neat! I miss drive-in theaters sometimes, though not many contemporary movies make me want to leave the house. A favorite memory was seeing "Lost Boys" and actually watching it again after the second feature finished.
DeleteDoes that ever bring back the memories. I'm going to have to rent it again. I miss John Candy too.
ReplyDeleteI bet we'd have fun watching together! Be well.
