Change of Plans

Upon firing up my sedan yesterday morning my center stack screen showed a weather warning about dangerously high winds. They are expected to start early Wednesday and last all day. Okay, I thought, at least my husband and I don’t need go anywhere tomorrow.

Three more such notifications appeared when I started the engine to return home. Each warned of driving hazards throughout most central and southwest Ohio counties here in the United States.

Then I remembered my 8:45 Wednesday dental appointment. As my title suggests, the clinic was very accommodating and I will return on December 8th.

To be clear, I’m an intrepid driver who’s braved many blizzards and more hours’ long torrential rainstorms than I care to recall. And the funny thing is that the weather has not been all that bad. Oh, well.

As Seen from my Back Deck on a Very Different Day

Better safe than sorry, right? Are weather forecasters generally wrong where you live?

  1. Often ours are wrong too. Sometimes one way and sometimes another way.

Have a fabulous day and a very happy Thanksgiving. ♥

  2. Our so called forecasters are wrong more that they are correct, we have more luck just looking out the window and guessing. I no longer drive it bad weather, the drivers here are not good even in good weather LOL!

  3. I just watched a NOVA about superfloods, focusing on the flooding after Helene in North Carolina, a flood in Barcelona, Spain, and the 4th of July flooding in Texas. (All very recent.) And, lives were saved by those who heeded warnings. Many did die. And warning systems were faulty. But people heeding warnings saved lives.

Better that you stayed home and didn't need to than tried to go out and it turned out as bad as it could be. Definitely.

  4. Am in the northeast corner of Metro Detroit, and they rarely get the weather correct. I look at the radar and precipitation screens before going out for a walk, and let me tell you, I've been rained on many times when there wasn't anything showing.

  7. it seems that I am using this answer to a lot of people on a lot of things.....its age related. Now I figure at this point you are scratching your head thinking has Pam lost it, what the hell is she talking about...lol....well, you might have done the storm and the storms but as we AGE we stress a tad more about that stuff and getting out in it like we used to. I for one drove to work a many a day in the pouring rain, pouring so hard you could hardly see. At the time, I did not like it but it did not bother me, NOW I avoid it as much as possible. Not that I fear it, but I now think of all that can go wrong.
