Sowing Her Wild Oats

Just when I think Jezebel has learned to act her age, she surprises me. A few minutes ago she climbed one of our tall cat trees. Getting down is how we think she injured her front leg last autumn. This jump onto the sofa proved flawless, thank heaven. We hope she wanted attention and will not try this when someone isn’t nearby.

Just chillin'...

That stands to reason as, following her return to earth, she begged for food. Her belly full, Jezzy is now curled up on her kitty heating pad. Little stinker startled me half to death. (not enough to stop me grabbing my nearby camera, of course) Heh…

For perspective...

How do you keep a geriatric cat safe when she thinks she’s half her age? And where is our thin little brat putting all the food she’s devouring?

  1. It can be hard. Cats don't know they're old!

  2. They are just like us. We do stuff that we pay for and then we finally learn at some point. Your kitty will do the same at some point.

Have a fabulous day and week. Scritches to the kitty. Hugs. ♥

  3. At some point she'll figure it out. Probably. At least she's still active.

    1. Let's hope so. And yes, her occasional bursts of craziness are a joy to behold.

  4. That is scary. We used to keep Prancie in her she shed at night so she wouldn't fall off the bed.

  5. A cat's gotta do what a cat's gotta do! No point in trying to change them!

  6. Let her be a cat I guess til she drops dead. I think I'll want that as I grow older, consequences be consequences. But....I'll be careful, at least. I hope Jezz is too. Broken bones, damaged joints, pulled ligaments....very painful reminders of age.

    1. You are a thousand times more active than me. ~nods~ But I agree with your opinion. Stay safe!

  7. She sounds better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That cat-climb does look high. If you are really concerned, you could (somehow) make the cat-climb, less high... Maybe? How, I have noooo idea. lol

But she'd not know the difference. She would still feel "fearless" and "super cool," even though not quite so able, to hurt herself.

    Maybe....

I never had one of those, for any of our cats, so I have no idea how they are constructed!!!!

    1. If she gets me too worried, I could lay them on their sides. :) My father actually built these - three, in fact! He didn't know much about cats, either. Looking at what sold for high amounts at pet stores, he took out his tools and went to work. The worst part, he said, was stretching carpet over all the pieces. Heh... Thanks for the chuckle, my dear.

  8. Well first if you are not sure about the food she is eating, check out the litter box!! haha...kidding. I know, Lily Bit hurt her leg when she was just a kitten by jumping straight up playing with a dangling toy. So when she does things like get on top of the fridge or walking on the iron rail in the house I take a deep intake!! But I figure you can't stop them. However once I stopped getting onto her for the rail, she stopped doing it!! haha...BRAT...little, little BRAT.

    1. They are getting a little ratty from use, but that just gives them character, right? Thanks for stopping by!

  10. Cats easily climb up heights. But they seem to be lost (at leasts for sometime) when they want to come down. That's what I have found with the ones we had.

    1. Oh, yes, I know what you mean. I once caught our cat Tilly when she fell out of a tree. She climbed high as the third story of a building! How I caught her is a blessed mystery. Be well!

  11. hey lady...not only did Chey run in the house with her 3am meeting with the skunk she jumped on the bed and started to roll. The spread is downstairs for a good washing. I think I was saved somewhat by the fact is was a baby....maybe not as much smell! Nothing like stripping down to get in the shower with a dog!!!!

    1. Oh, you poor dear. Our dog Trixie got sprayed once and my father gave her a tomato juice bath. Ugh... I don't recall how well it worked, but I feel for you. What a night!
