Holding My Tongue

I had to practically race out of the YMCA this morning or risk swallowing my tongue. It was all because a man stood directly outside the woman's locker room. Normally I would greet someone so nearby.

But what could I say when he stood there holding this adorable stuffed rooster by the neck? I couldn't think of a single thing to say that wasn't risqué, not quite appropriate for my surroundings. Passersby probably thought I was having a stroke.

Should I have at least tried to say 'hello'?

  1. Yep....I would have said "hello" as I raised my brows at him with a questioning look! Or I would have said something like, "dinner"? Haha.....at times my mouth over rules.

    1. I know what you mean. It's nice to let loose at home. My partner laments that he can't share my quips. Thanks for sharing the laugh. You made me chuckle.

In this case it didn't help that the guy was nice looking. "Need some help with that?" I wanted to ask.

  2. I would not have a quick smart comment either, for such a sight.

    1. My problem was having too many come to mind! ~grin~ I wish now I'd simply said, "Nice, uh... rooster." It's fun making a completely unfamiliar grown man blush. I remember once speaking to a big bulked-up guy going shirtless at an outdoor alternative rock music venue. After following him back and forth between the stages a number of times I complimented his amazing back tattoo. His face turned an endearing shade of pink.

  3. Yes. "Nice, uh...rooster," would've been perfect. I can never think of the perfect thing to say until later.

    1. I usually have to reign in my mouth. Only my partner gets the brunt of my wicked tongue. ~grin~ Sometimes I earn a swat on the arm if I'm being particularly naughty.

    1. Ha! He looked lost, actually. That's the only reason I managed to hold back, I think. I'll probably carry this little regret forever. ~grin~ Thanks for the support.
