Thank you for the wonderful comments! It does have a central ridge, much like Oriental roofs, which bifurcates it nicely for two seats. And I never thought about the comparison to Quakers but the lack of nails and perfect fitting is so similar, I've been encouraged at home to buy more like it. I'll have to show it to my talented father and get his take on the woodworking aspects. Perhaps it will spark ideas for him!
