I’ve known of Hills & Dales Metropark for many years. The off-putting name always sounded like a department store. Me, a linguistics fan, should have known better.
Its many literal hills and dales, a pond, trickling creek, various trails, bridges, wildlife, picnic shelters, and local history riveted me for an hour plus. Cheeky critters adapting as visitors abounded made for another fun (if bittersweet) find. Here a few views and if you’re interested you can learn more.
Can you believe something so mundane as breakfast led me to this treasure? On that note, have any of you Midwest US (Ohio and Michigan) residents ever visited a Barry Bagels location? What do you think of their seasonal offerings?

I hope you had a great time, but mosquitos like me and I may have had to sit that one out in the car. I could have walked with you, and all the mosquitos would have swarmed me then. Lol.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we could have cancelled one another out. LOL I've heard blood type is a thing.
DeleteHI.....glad to see you back blogging today. I jump over to check on you from time to time. Yes, that name reminds me of a department store also. Loving the turtles, soaking up some of the last rays of summer. As I wrote that I realized I did not do any soaking up of rays this yr. Cutting grass was done in the late evening so that I avoided the hottest part of the day and if I was out, I was on the covered deck. Crap, not even been in a pool for several yrs. But that is okay....FALL is on the way and I love that time better. I have always love cat tails for decor in the house. Mom used to have a milk can and years ago (I was a teen) I was in an area where their were some, cut them and took them to the milk can. They were beautiful till one busted...haha. Keep on blogging about ANYTHING.
ReplyDeleteYou're sweet. :) Thanks.
DeleteThat sure looks like a nice place to visit. Our Mom visited Chip & Dales once.
ReplyDeleteLOL
DeleteI wish I would have been with you. Not sharing the mosquitoes though. They love me too. I love the turtles. So cute.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day and week, Darla. Big hug. ♥
Turtles are awesome. :)
DeleteLooks like a great park.
ReplyDeleteYes! I intend to return.
DeleteYou lost me at mosquitoes- nothing is worth dealing with those. :) XO
ReplyDeleteThey've been a huge problem this year. ~sigh~
DeleteNo, I live elsewhere but just your asking the question makes me want tone there and go. !!
ReplyDeleteI would love to find some turtles sunning themselves. I have looked for such an opportunity all my photography adventure days and I have never seen them like this Talk about charming!
I wish we could walk local parks together. :) Turtles are charming, for sure.
DeleteSounds like quite the place for a little adventure. Dad says mosquitos love his skin, blood type- whatever draws them to him. The turtles remind him of the many hikes and walks he & mom have done over the years, especially around Greenfield Lake out in
ReplyDeleteWilmington when we lived there. There used to be a Hill & Dale Mall up in Northampton, MA near where dad used to live. It's long since fallen into disrepair, though it housed many businesses over the years. He's not sure if there's anything there now. Enjoy the rest of your week!
Decay is sad but parks are great! :) I wish you and your adventurous folks the best, sweet Cleo.
DeleteThat looks like a nice place ... Turtles... interesting!
