Wakeup Call

Yesterday morning around 5:30 both our cats started going crazy. They wanted their canned food, which I rather regret reintroducing into their diets. SO usually takes care of them but seemed dead to the world, presumably up earlier as I slept sound.

At any rate, I decided to get up because my body decided it was time. However, that meant a trip to the bathroom first. Well, Jezebel would have none of that.

Usually the quiet one, she attacked our sliding ‘pocket’ door while I splashed water on my face, then ran away as it opened. Not wanting to disturb SO with the light I shut it again only to hear another scratching assault. Again, she ran away as I admonished her.

The third time, she opened the door. I can only figure there must have been a small gap between the door and the molding that her frantic clawing found. She sure seemed surprised, though it didn’t stop her waltzing in and mouthing off.

Needless to say, I fed them shortly thereafter. As predicted, Tilly still went back and cried until her favorite human got out of bed.

Do you, unlike me, have a regular sleep/wake schedule?

  1. I so remember these times with kitties. They want what they want when they want it.

Yes, I have a set schedule. I got to bet around 10 and get up around six. Once in a blue moon I'll sleep it until seven. Those are red letter days for me.

    Yes, that's an adorable shot.

    Have a fabulous day. ♥

    1. You're probably healthier for a set schedule, at least that's what science claims today. Who knows? ~hugs~ I'm glad you like the photo. I've never met the boy or his cat in person but Kyros knows he's one of my major writing muses. ~evil grin~ Be well!

  2. No regular schedule. Pets don't allow it!
Some mornings I have to get up for work, but I wake up around the same time (6:30-8:00) anyway. But, ALL mornings, as soon as either it's light or I stir even a teeny bit, or whisper to a dog, one of my cats, Benny, is crying at the door! My daughter says she sees him sitting outside it, waiting, in the night! He loves me like no cat I've had before, he would be carried around in a baby pack if he could! The carpet is shredded at the door; I put a small rug under it, but part of his morning routine is to claw it out. He can't sleep with me, I have no windows and leave a French door ajar at night, and he's a house cat only. Plus, I can't leave the bedroom door open since then the two dogs who do sleep with me would wander in and out of the room all night! The other cat is no bother!
I try to get to bed around 10:00. The next day is hard if I stay up past midnight!

  3. Seriously.....schedule? I am retired remember! haha....the only schedule I am on falls within certain days and even then I don't do the same time on those days, that is the days I go feed the horses.
Aren't animals so funny! They amaze me daily. Even the horses, they know what time it is when it is feeding time.....they are always waiting at the gate for me. Amazing.

    1. I don't envy you having barn duty, but horses are amazing. Be well!

  4. I don't know how I'd do with cats waking me in the morning. When I want to sleep in, I want to sleep in.

    1. Actually, I thought of you while watching this morning's SpaceX launch. ~grin~ Did you get to look up at the skies and see anything or were you getting to sleep? ~grin~ Be well!

  5. Very cute photo. Our cats are pretty good in the morning, but Emmy will meow in the middle of the night until I get up and give her some canned food.

  6. Well I'm often up and down most of the night anyhow, so its the cats giving me dirty looks for waking them.
