I've Got My Eye On You

Why do I feel like someone’s… Oh.

Excuse Me, It's Time to Get On the Couch
Can you believe Tilly is somewhere around her mid teens? Those eyes are still so clear, as you can see. And somehow, some way, her wispy fur (guard hairs thinned by hyperthyroidism or its medication, maybe?) has regained its former wooliness.

Unfortunately, she has never been a good self groomer. From the back she looks like a field of high brown grasses beaten down every which way by heavy rain or snow. If it wouldn’t distress the old girl so, I’d shell out money to get her groomed like we did multiple times a year for the better part of a decade.

Have you ever had a pet that needed professional grooming?

  1. She is beautiful. And yes, I have cats who would benefit from pro grooming but they don't get it, they get me and my $20 Amazon clippers. I can get the mats off but I still am very bad at creating good looks with clippers.

    1. You're very kind. And amazing! ~hugs~ I've never dared to try for fear of getting clawed. We actually just got her shaved down to a velvet buzz several times. It cost about the same and took longer before she got matted up again. So far, their are no dreadlocks or mats for whatever lucky reason.

  2. I honestly never had, now that I think of it. I've owned several dozen cats in my life and I've honestly never had one that needed grooming.

    Actually...kind of weird in retrospect.

  3. NOPE...I have made it a point to have animals that don't need grooming. I don't want to have to take a pet to be beautied up more then I got to have it done! haha.. My first dog never went to have anything done. We did not even have to clip her nails. Dakota has been just for nail clipping but now I do that. Lily....I clip her nails and she does an amazing job grooming herself. She has even stopped right smack in the middle of playing to lick a spot or two..then play again. I have been lucky with that sort of stuff. Now me on the other hand.....of heck I do my own grooming too! haha....I do go and have my hair cut, from time to time. I don't have my nails done except....just for the fun of it I go and have my toe nails painted sometimes. Not a pedi but just have them paint them for me. They last for WEEKS when they do it. That is as far as my grooming goes. Wow....now I feel like an ungroomed pet, my hair needs something done to it!

    1. You look fabulous in all your photos. ~hugs~ I should have known Tilly had grooming issues. When I brought her home from the shelter she looked almost greasy. Oh, well. We love the little goofball.

  4. She doesn't like getting groomed? I guess some cats don't. But it might be necessary, eh?

    1. So far she doesn't have dreadlocks or mats, so we're gonna wait and see. Leaving the house is stressful for our little prima donnas. ~grin~ Be well!

  5. Tilly is gorgeous. My angel Snowball used to have to get a lion cut twice a year because she hated being groomed and she was a persian. She didn't even like grooming herself, she used to have Phoebe do it.

  6. We used to have a long-haired cat when I was a child. She was constantly getting knots in her fur which my mom had to cut out. After that cat, my mom vowed never to get another long-haired cat again.

    1. I don't blame her. ~grin~ I'll keep this goofy girl, though, as long as she wants to stick around and her little body holds up.
