A Teasing Taste of Spring

I know it’s still January. Thanks for that Facebook reminder, Bernadette. ~grin~ I think that made today all the sweeter, in part because I didn’t have to think about mowing the grass.

Not a Sight Seen Today, But I Know Goldfinches Await in the Fields
Dressed in their Drab Winter Garb Yet Still Adored

With temperatures nearing sixty degrees F today, I got to enjoy my back patio for the first time in months. The sun came out, cardinals were singing, squirrels raced across the neighbors field. I even found a friendly visitor in the little cat that likes to wander through (I’m ninety nine percent certain the healthy looking tortie has a good home).

Of course it didn’t last. Clouds overtook the sun and winds kicked up. Still, I wrote almost an entire chapter of my latest WIP before the chill chased me indoors. That makes me very happy.

How are things where you live?

  1. Oooh, sixties. That's about where we were today. I think the high was 66. We just came off a couple days of rain.

I won't tell you what we're forecasted to have tomorrow. Let's just say it's going to be a bit warmer...

    1. I reserve no sense of jealousy. ~grin~ Temps in the forties or fifties might keep me writing indoors but I'm happy with that. Be well!

  2. That does sound like a nice day. We had 37 degrees which felt like a heat wave compared to last week. I would snatch that tortie up -finders keepers :)

    1. It was nice out there! Glad you're feeling some warmer temps. I would be tempted to grab that cat. She doesn't want me to pick her up, though, so I take that as a 'no'... But we almost touched noses, which is dangerous territory according to my spouse.

  3. Mild here, not patio weather though, but been in the 50's, rain, lots of rain, but the mountains have not received enough snow, so the worries begin in Oregon, over the spring and summer water situation. Long days of winter still ahead though, could come, that needed mountain snow.

  4. Lily got to enjoy the deck yesterday and I went out calling her a bit ago so she could have lunch and she was curled up on the glider looking all sleepy! She LOVES these temps.
