Thursday Thirteen - Japan After People

I have another list courtesy of Pink Tentacle.  I hope you enjoy. These post-apocalyptic images struck me as eerily beatiful. Click to enlarge.

1. The Rainbow Bridge - note the ship at the bottom left to give you a scope of the scene

2. The iconic International Conference Center at Tokyo's popularly termed "Big Sight"

3. Kabuki-za Theater, Ginza - I like the storm clouds

4. Sofmap building in Akihabara - this building might be the headquarters for the retail computer store, either way it looks cool under snow-covered vegetation

5. Haneda Airport - this curving horizon is spectacular

6. Akihabara - what a stunning night sky

7. Tsutenkaku Tower, Osaka - now that's a leaning tower

8. Osaka street scene - I can't stop thinking of that show, "Life After People" and its great narrative

9. Hato Bus - the blue sky makes a great contrast with the other images

10. Ueno - I don't know what we're looking at exactly, the train station, perhaps; the sun beams are amazingly depicted, though

11. Wako Building, Ginza - the artist's decision to leave the car untouched is genius

12. Hanayashiki Amusement Park, Asakusa - the colors here really catch the eye

13. Shinjuku Skyline - this just blew me away; it's actually how the Pink Tentaccle pictorial kicked off (you can find it here, by the way: Post-Apocalyptic Tokyo

  4. I love that show (Life After People) because it gives me hope for the planet once we've worn out our welcome and disappeared. I like to think that the damage we're doing isn't permanent for the planet, just for our habitation (does that make sense? LOL!).

    Happy TT! :)

  9. These do remind me of Life AFte rPeople. I wastched that show religiously to get ideas for my series that takes place in a future without technology and a greatly reduced population.
