Both Bewildered & Delighted

Somehow, I didn’t get on my laptop for four days straight (!) when I thought I’d only missed doing so yesterday (Monday). ~scratches head~ So I’m sorry for my lengthy absence.

In the meantime, my first super sauce Roma tomato blooms have fruited. I’m so happy my leggy seedlings could be rescued.

I harvested exactly one last year due to not
labeling, planting only sturdy seedlings,
and all but one turned out being
of the cherry variety.

In my defense, my husband spent two weeks in hospital last spring, thus my thoughts were scattered. At least I learned a valuable lesson about seed starting, and I’m thrilled at how well my guy is doing now.

I also enjoy our ruby throated hummingbirds and maintain several sugar water feeders. The ants no longer annoy me as they did years ago. They are generally beneficial, after all, and we all have to eat.

Inevitably, a few of these teeny tiny ants hitch a ride with me
even though I try to leave them where they were...

It fascinates me how only a single size of ant invades one feeder or the other. You would think the larger types would take over from the tiniest. Perhaps having so many options makes a difference.

Aren’t I lucky that replanting all this season’s scraggly seedlings deeper revived them? Who knew that different types of tomato seeds were more finicky than others about their growing conditions?

  1. Hi Darla, nature is fascinating. I am very happy 😊 to see you back. ❤️
For myself, there is nothing better than fresh garden tomatoes.
Since I have never had a garden I have only gotten to have fresh garden tomatoes a few times thanks to friends or neighbours who do have a garden and have given me some.
Thank you so much for sharing, dear friend.

  2. My favorite of all the tomatoes. Looking good.

Ants need to eat, but I don't what them in our home. We've had bouts of them moving in.

Have a fabulous day and rest of the week. Big hug. ♥

  3. Nice to see the tomatoes blooming ... Four days of absence is nothing compared to mine! ... I have gone a bit slow on blogging ... Primarily because I have been preoccupied with a number of other activities.

  5. I mean, the internet is still there even if you have a life outside of it. Enjoy your life, and we'll check in when you've got the time.

  6. Glad your tomatoes are coming along. Doesn't your hummingbird feeder have a dip in the top to put water to keep them from getting to the food? XO

  7. Oh I'm happy to see the results of you caring for those seedlings, reviving them and now look what they have produced!
