A Lazy Spring Update
During these last few nice days I’ve been busy preparing for the growing season. Yesterday I sowed several Swiss chard seeds outdoors. It’s a very pretty and cold hard plant offering tasty spinach-like leaves. Today I watered them due to high, drying winds.
Not This Spring Harvest, Yet...
Reliable Yellow Crocus
A Surprise of Spreading Purple!
Do you enjoy spinach or other greens? Have you ever eaten decorative edible flowers?
I have. I once ate a violet. Two. And felt like a murderer as those are my most favorite wild flower ever. All the colors. Purple blue, white, yellow. I read that they were actually quite good and I hate to say that they are indeed good. I can't do it again.
My mom has always loved fresh spinach, and dad learned to enjoy it once mom got him eating better many moons ago. He says he remembers working with edible flowers in one or two bakeries he used to work at, though never tried them himseld.
I've never eaten flowers but I enjoy fresh garden veggies!

DeleteI bet it was nice to get out in the garden. Good luck with your planting endeavors.
ReplyDeleteIt was. Thank you.
DeleteI always eat the flowers on meals. I eat most greens but spinach is not my favourite.
ReplyDeleteMe too. I like edible garnishes. Spinach is fine, as far as I'm concerned, unless it's canned. That's disgusting. lol Be well!
DeleteI love all greens. I've not had edible flowers though.
ReplyDeleteI linked this post to Happy Tuesday.
Have a fabulous day and week. Love and hugs. ♥
~hugs~

DeleteLove spinach, kale and Swiss chard. The only edible flower I have had is Queen Anne's Lace. XO
ReplyDeleteI've read that the roots of Queen Anne's Lace taste like carrot. :D Hugs, my dear.
DeleteYes, I have spinach once in a while. Good to be out in the garden. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you. You do the same, my dear.

ReplyDeleteAwww... You make me sad. Removing flowers often causes more to reproduce. :)

ReplyDeleteYour humans are amazing! I would never have guessed your dad worked at bakeries. That's fascinating.
