Painfully True but Funny

Sometimes we just have to laugh. People can be so clever. I especially like the hot dog’s party toothpick ‘tail’.

Meanwhile, we don’t treat the holiday different from any other day. It may seem sad but we don’t miss driving three hours one way to stuff ourselves at various relatives’ homes.

However, we got a turkey because Walmart is selling them whole for less than 1 dollar (US) per pound. Our freezer is so packed that the bird’s thawing in the refrigerator.

After cooking it will be broken down – some frozen in smaller portions. While we humans and our cats will enjoy feasting, the bones will make a good stock.

Never a big Walmart fan, can you understand why I’ll shop there in these times? Did you know there is a couple who film grocery store shopping for Youtube viewers?

  1. That's a good deal and I can see why you shop at WalMart. Excellent buy and lots of very cheap meals.

Have a fabulous weekend, Darla. Big hug. ♥

  2. Wow, I wonder if our Walmart has that deal going. I wish I had a big freezer. I usually get at least two turkeys if I can somehow find space to freeze them. In Oregon a person can help themselves to road kill. People have donated two wild turkeys hit on the road to me. One had been partially processed by the finder, to make it safe if he didn't get it to me right away. Road kill has to be fresh to be safe without rupture that spills toxins into the meat.

  3. Gotta go where the deals are. Family is overrated. I'd only do the three hour drive if I wanted to see the family. Some families are happier with distance.

  4. Being vegan, The Hubby and I do not partake of most traditional Thanksgiving fare, however frozen turkeys are cooked, and the meat ground into cat-sized packets and frozen, as a sort of treat food for the cats. The 'O' Cats always went crazy for that turkey.

  5. That is a good price, but I'd stick with the hot dog turkey, that funny is a riot!

  6. We still need to get our turkey. I am holding out for a big sale. I like Walmart. We have one just a mile up the road so it is very handy. XO

  7. HAHA....I will check out the youtube video. As for Thanksgiving, Amber usually does just a turkey breast which is enough for us and I am doing the ham. I drive one hour and 15 mins to her house, stuff, rest and back again. However, stuffing for me consists of little food these days. I am not the biggest fan of turkey but I rather have it than that hotdog! lol

  8. We don't have Walmart here in the UK. I haven't noticed any shortages on our supermarkets but prices have gone up. Also, we don't celebrate Thanksgiving - for obvious reasons! Enjoy your turkey.

  9. I have a turkey breast...16 pounds...and that will be it for the now four of us plus grandchild who won't eat it. Prices are on their way to stratospheric. I was glad to see you when I got back from my trip. Katie Isabella was so glad that I came home. She s used to sleeping on my chest and head...so it was an inconvenience to her. :-)
