These blacks cat can cross my path anytime. Just look at them!
Too bad they don't love one another, eh? |
Are you familiar with tossing spilled salt over your left should to ward off the devil? Or that saying 'bless you' when someone sneezes is meant to do the same? Does your family lore have superstitions?

Are you going to be like me, collecting twin black cat statues? I've already got a couple, and keep my eyes peeled for more!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for your kind comment on the blog about Paddy O'Malley...it was such a blow.
~hugs~
DeleteWe're not superstitious here and we totally love black cats!
ReplyDeleteYour family is awesome!
DeleteThey are such cuties. I throw salt over my shoulder, say bless you, no bird things in the house, no whistling inside, no shoes on the table---on and on, but I think all cats are lucky. Xo
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteI LOVE seeing the "brats" and they can be but mostly aren't they all "Angels". Beautiful picture there.
ReplyDeleteThank you, my dear.
DeleteThey are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDon't believe in all that stuff. Friday the 13th is always a lucky day for me. I've always loved black cats. They are lucky too. I don't do the salt, but I do the bless you when someone sneezes.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous weekend, Darla. Big hug. ♥
I have to restrain myself from saying 'bless you' to sneezing strangers. lol I'm not sure who appreciates it these days. Hugs back, my dear.
DeleteWe do have some family superstitions that come from Mom (whose family comes from Wales and Cornwall). It is lucky to meet a black cat. (did you know black cats are on many good luck greetings cards and birthday cards in England). Your black cats ARE Lucky!
ReplyDeleteAnd it is lucky to touch wood. We knock on wood, to make something come true.
Awesome!
DeleteDad and I love this photo of your two "doll babies", and Orbit was, of course, dad's most favorite black cat ever. Dad says he used to look on Friday the 13th as something to be feared and cautious over, but these days he's like "eh, whatever." No superstitions in this household. Thanks for sharing this beautifiul photo, Darla!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteJust make sure to keep the kitties in on Halloween. (I hear stories of people who aren't so nice and black cats...) They are so cute.
ReplyDeleteYes! Crazy, huh? And thanks for the kind words.
DeleteHAHA...yes, my mom had those believes and some of them have carried over to me. I toss the salt over my shoulder when you spill salt. That is how I was taught. I never knew it was to keep the devil at bay, I thought it was so you would not have bad luck. I also have the one about a black cat passing or crossing your path. Walking under a ladder and things like that. So I really dropped in to find out where you have been? Missing you.
ReplyDeleteAwww... Thanks. I've not been online for days - just disconnected from things, I guess.
